Knits for Christmas 2010

For Christmas this year I did a bit of knitting.  For my sister Nina and my brother in law Damien I made his and hers scarves with personalized embroidery.   For Joe I made a beer cozy featuring his favorite football team, Penn State.  It is more successful at keeping his hand cozy than his beer, but a bottle sure looks handsome in a turtleneck.

Stitchy Bags – Thank You Anna

The ANNA THANK YOU Bag

Anna Grace, an up and coming graphics designer, created such an amazing logo for my business Fermata Designs, that I had to figure out a fitting way to thank her.  I created this bag using a character Anna designed for a children’s cd and fabric from a pair of wool pants I bought at the Goodwill.  Check out more of Anna’s work at The PasteUp.

Stitchy Bags – The Angela Collection

Bags are fun to make with fabric remnants and bits of extra trim.  Over the years I have made several bags for friends and family as gifts.

The ANGELA Collection

I made these bags for my sister Angela.

Crochet

Aside from designing, sewing and embroidery, I also knit and crochet!  My mother taught me to knit and crochet in high school, and I have been attempting to match her skill since.  I am far behind!

Here are a few hats I designed and crocheted for my sister Angela.

Nina and Damien Wedding Details

My sister Nina married Damien September 26, 2009.  I embroidered some sashes for the bridesmaids and some ties for the groomsmen.  We linked the wedding party with blues, to make the wedding couple pop in orange.  The ladies’ sashes were adorned with leaves flowers and branches.  The men’s ties were embroidered with architecture from around Oakland, the couples’ home city.  It was a lovely wedding.

The Roots of the Empire State

A quilt I designed and created for the 2009 IIDA NY Sustainable Design Quilting Bee using only discarded furniture fabric samples. It was purchased by Patrick Wood, and now hangs in Pittsburgh, PA.  Thank you Pat!

Angela Dress

A green linen dress I designed and created for my sister Angela. Here is a detail view of cut-work flower silhouettes.
